What if you could make your own diy homemade coffee creamer? It’s more a treat than anything else. Most of the time I prefer my coffee unsweetened and black; however there are days when I crave a coffee syrup or flavored coffee as a special treat.
Flavored coffees and syrups can be expensive, which is why I learned to make homemade coffee creamer with organic ingredients. One way you can make diy coffee flavor is by making a simple syrup which is the base for any coffee creamer.
Homemade Flavored Coffee Recipe
INGREDIENTS
1 cup of water
1 cup of sugar
1 tsp of vanilla extract
vanilla beans
desired flavor, pumpkin, cinnamon, etc.
DIRECTIONS:
To make this simple syrup, combine one cup of water with one cup of sugar and let it come to a boil. Reduce heat and stir until the sugar granules are completely dissolved.
Now it’s time to add your flavoring. To make vanilla syrup, simply add a teaspoon of vanilla extract to the syrup. If you have vanilla beans on hand, you can use the inside scrapings or the actual remaining bean pod.
Pumpkin Spice Creamer
Another delicious flavored simple syrup for coffee is pumpkin spice! This is particularly wonderful to have on hand during the winter months. Again, just add a teaspoon of pumpkin spice extract, or if you can’t find it, a teaspoon of pumpkin pie spice. For a rich cinnamon simple syrup, use a teaspoon of cinnamon and replace white sugar with brown sugar for an absolutely indulgent flavor.
To make homemade flavored coffee, purchase a bag of good whole coffee beans. When you grind them, add flavors of your choice. Try dried fruit and almonds in the coffee grinder. You can also grind coffee beans with cinnamon, pumpkin spice or cocoa beans. If you enjoy the taste of oranges, shave orange zest in to your ground coffee. Extracts can also be added to coffee beans when you grind them, giving you flavor options such as vanilla, anise, black walnut, butter rum, brandy or caramel.
