Waxed Easter eggs is an fun way to make an easter egg craft that preschoolers can do, by drawing on eggs with crayons and then dying them. Here are step by step instructions on making waxed Easter egg designs.

Items needed:

  • hard-boiled eggs
  • cheap waxed crayons
  • cooking oil
  • soft cloth
  • Easter egg dyes
  • paper towels
  • an oven.

Directions:

First, preheat your oven to 200 degrees. Create heavy crayon designs on the eggs using wax crayons. Next, dip the eggs in Easter egg dye until the eggs are the desired color. Dark dye colors work the best for this project. Allow the newly-colored eggs to dry. Place the eggs in a preheated oven for just a few minutes until the crayon wax is melted. Help your children to wipe the eggs off using paper towels. Dip the eggs in dye once more, but this time make the dye a lighter color, so that the dye fills in the area where the wax was. Lastly, you can polish the Easter eggs using cooking oil and a soft piece of cloth.
